Kuma Shochu has been carefully brought up in the rich natural beauty of the Kuma district for more than 500 years. Continuing until today, Fusanotsuyu has been engaged in delivering top quality shochu to customers with a firm belief and passion with no thought for compromise. Something which one day might be labelled a tradition in and of itself. We do not simply stick to our inherited traditional practices and techniques, but instead also aim to improve the essence of our practises in keeping with modern times. We also continue to adapt to modern changes in craftsmen’s skills, equipment, malted rice, and yeast, deepening our traditions. This represents the spirit and flavour which we have inherited: actively trying new things while preserving our traditions. We never permit any compromises when it comes to making delicious shochu. These commitments have been inherited from each Touji (chief distiller) to the next. And each Touji’s perception then adds to the collective knowledge which they inherit, breathing new life into the tradition and blending it into our shochu.
